- It's called power creep. Something like this was bound to happen once they introduced pretaunters and character like Chirrut, who can heal massive amounts of hp for baze without either taking a single turn
- They are far from useless, same argument could've been used when Thrawn was released yet ppl kept using them... it's all about adapting & growing a deep roster with good mods...
- On defense maybe slightly since squishy toons are left wide open but there's still 4 others. Thrawn did more to the tank utility with fracture.
On offense, since "AI" targets are usually random it doesn't matter. - Tanks have been in a questionable spot for a while, this is just the final nail in the coffin. It started with the incredibly consistent dispel of DN, got worse with Fracture, and is now complete with CLS and the Raid Han rework. Pretty much the ONLY way to keep a tank in your team is by making it GK, because he can be useful without taunting and, with Zeta Barriss, can survive against meta teams.
- considering that general kenobi is the 2nd most used character by players ranking #1 and top10, 3rd most used character used by players ranking top100 according to swgoh.gg's meta report, i'd say atleast one tank is far from useless.
I foresee healers becomming more usefull in the near future, but don't see tanks becomming utterly useless. "SpadeFreeman;c-1234523" wrote:

R2 gives relevance to tanks. Sure, you could run R2 himself as the tank, but imho it works better with R2 and a separate, bigger beefier toon... which would be a tank.- Fake tanking still works with R2 stealth, but yeah, taunting has become a lot less useful. Old Ben has a zeta that retaunts if dispelled, but with DN, CLS and Thrawn in the same team i don't see this as a viable option
- In my opinion making taunt an undispellable buff would help. Taunt at the moment is one of the most useless buffs in the game. Tanks would become alot more used.

Actually, I'd say the root of the problem is the prevalence of buffs. There are so many in pretty much every team that dispels have to be added to keep them in line. With so many dispels around, taunts can't stick as long, so tanks can't do as much.
The solution would be to move the meta away from the super buff-heavy Rebels, but that's never going to happen for long.- I think it's just dejavu. Bcause when Boba Fett era, which have same ability ignore taunt, people questioning same things about usability of tank. Imo tank is still useful, and not every player use (have) cls. I think we're good here ;)
