Tie Fighter Dodge

How is Tie Fighter's ability to dodge calculated?

My general observation is that a higher geared / powered / leveled pilot and ship will dodge more often Vs a lower level ship shooting at it. I've also seen that when Tie Fighter shoots a ship with counter attack, the counter seems to be dodged very often. I don't know if this observation is truly a game dynamic though.

However dodge is explained as a chance %. Kind of implies a raw chance regardless of levels involved. Some ship attacks of course can't be dodged. And, target lock doesn't seem to change the dodge ability at all.

  • AI vs player controlled RNG mechanics is mostly a victim of confirmation bias. You believe it's biased towards the AI, so every time the AI dodges you it's banked into your memory of confirming your theory, and when you don't dodge it's the same. You don't notice the times when the attacks land, or yours dodge, nearly as much.

    That said, it really sucks to have it dodge so many times in a row when it's the last ship you need to kill. But i've also had my own dodge many times in a row, even to win matches.

    I would love to see CG open up the database so that we can see for ourselves.

    I'm thinking we are going to see heavy TFP dodge bias for AI.

    I think we're also going to see that drops are fixed at less than 33% for many Cantina nodes and hard nodes. Especially those nodes that are more needed than others.
