Trapped in carbonite too long

Hello. I have been in Carbonite 2 and Carbonite 1 for a long time, but for 6 months I always lose 2 battles. There are always stronger teams than me. Sometimes I get promoted to Carbonite 1, but then I fall back again, even though I have 5 million GP and I am learning to use mods. I feel desperate, and I don't know how to get points. I try going for 1st place, using fewer slots, and building a GL defense. Is it normal that even if I lose, I still get some points to go higher next time?

OK, so your first choice of GL (Sith Emperor Eternal) is a little unfortunate.  Most people now (not me), consider him the weakest of the GLs.  He's offensive only, which means you're probably using him on a lot of teams that inferior teams can beat anyway.  He also does quite poorly vs a lot of the more modern teams (especially newer GLs).

One thing that SEE does transition quite well to is the Executor meta fleet unlock.  You are distinctly lacking top end fleets, which will hurt you in GAC.  Also, it hurts your crystal income.  Picking up the Executor would definitely be a good thing.

In fact, working on ships altogether would be extremely beneficial to your GAC.  After all, north-side with ships gives more points than south-side.  So, clearing ships is extremely important when a GAC is tight.  You have yet to get any of the 3 meta fleets, neither of the 2 'used to be' meta fleets (Malevolence and Negotiator) or the ships required to push Executrix or Chimaera up to their level.  Ships may not necessarily be a weakness for you in Carbonite, but neither are they a strength.

Leia is a good choice.  She's competent on offence and defence.  JML however, is in a similar boat to SEE; they have aged poorly.  He's 'good' on offence, but very limited in what he can counter.  I feel that yes you can use SEE and JML.  However, there's a lot of duplication (in GAC).  You may have 1 difficult defensive team to remove, but 2 offensive minded GLs to do it.

Recently I collected an Inquisitor team.

They're not a 'great' GAC team, until you get 3rd sister (Reva).  However, they are a pretty good Conquest team (for getting wins, no necessarily feats).  They could help you out there.  When it becomes time to unlock Grand Inquisitor, make sure you watch a guide on it.  I really like RabidBeaver's youtube guide, it was extremely helpful to me.

I'm looking at your Admiral Piett, and I see you have taken good care on his speed.  Taking care of the modding and knowing how sets work are definitely assets that most Carbonite players ignore.  I think you can improve his 2 health mods, but considering how you modded him, definitely bodes well for the future.

However, I then looked at your Wampa's mods and that's a bit of an 'oh dear'.  So, the area to improve is knowing how to mod (remotely well).  Fortunately, you don't need to work this out yourself.  swgoh.gg will do that for you.

For each character, simply google "Best mods for (wampa) swgoh.gg".  You'll then be taken to a page that will show you what the 'better' GAC players are using for her.  It's extremely important you take modding seriously.  Also, after checking 20 or so characters there, you'll start to see which mod types (and primary stats) are needed more.

For a more in depth look at modding, MasterSeedy has a forum topic about it here:

Modding: Quality, Farming Efficiency & the Cull | EA Forums - 13162736

It's important that every day you try to improve your mods.  Not just for newer players, but all players.  Nobody has the perfect mods.  We all need to farm and replace mods.

Also, take care of your omicron expenditures.  I see omicrons on Chirpa and Krennic (that are a bit rubbish) and not one on Savage Opress (which is very 'unrubbish').  Make sure you consider your omicron purchases carefully and get guidance on them.  Ahnaldt101 actually is very good (for this topic) in that he has a spreadsheet on which omicrons are a good and which are not (although it hasn't been updated recently).  If you google a youtube video on 'best omicrons', you'll be able to find the information on what's good and what's not from him (the spreadsheet is linked in the description).  Also Xareth Prevails has more modern videos on the topic.

Actually, seeing you have Savage, Traya and Nihilus, that would be a great team for GAC and other SWGOH environments, even though they're not on an unlock path.  You have all 3 and their team is a great long-term investment.  They'll take you to at least low Kyber 1 and be essential to your GAC plans.  Also, I'm sure in Carbonite Geonosians are a big issue.  Traya stomps on them like the bugs they are.  Taking these 3 to relics and adding both their omicrons would I'm sure, be a great investment.

OK, so looking at your GAC.  I see this 3v3 is going exceptionally well (5-2).  As you've done so well this season, this last week looks like it's going to be tough.  Try to hold on and get a win.  If you pick up 1 win, it looks to me like you will be promoted to Bronzium.  If you lose all 3, then it looks like you'll miss out again, by just 3 or 4 points!

Looking at your first loss this season, there's not much you could do as you don't have a counter to Jabba.  Great use of Wampa and Vader to pick up under-man wins.  I'd definitely have SEE on offence (but he wouldn't have helped you that day) and probably CLS and/or Tarkin on defence.  Again, there's a wasted omircon here.  As you have Tarkin without the darkside clones.

Not much more I can really give advice on your 3v3 season, as it's gone so well.

Looking at your 5v5, I see you have SEE on offence.  Great.  For more difficult battles SEE likes his disposable friends.  I see you have a 4 star Wat Tambor; he can buff SEE very nicely and help out greatly with more difficult battles, even at 4 stars.  What's more, he does it before anybody  (usually) takes a turn.  So being only 4 stars doesn't matter so much.  It'll help your SEE to get him up and running.  Mandalorian armorer can actually do the job even better......or as a 2 man (well 1 woman and 1 robotty thing) defensive buff job.  She though, can be extremely frustrating at times.  You can.....use thrawn to give a bonus turn to armorer so that she gives 3 stacks of beskar to SEE.  A support to support a support so that that support can support SEE.  Also, when SEE links enemies it forces an ally tank to taunt.

So yes, use him solo (like you have) when you know it works.  However, when you make a team for him, don't use the Sith you've been using (Sith Empire is a waste of a good team) use Wat, a darkside tank and probably not the best use of your resources right now but Armorer and Thrawn get extra mileage out of your aging GL.

Generally, you want the tougher SEE battles to go........ Wat applies the protection tech (or health tech vs opponents that ignore protection (JMK for example)) to SEE.  SEE then links 2 of the opposition, forcing his tank to taunt.  Armorer then applies armour shred.  Thrawn then gives Armorer a turn.  Armorer now has 3 stacks of beskar and plonks them on SEE-boy.  If you can get this sequence done, he stands a very high chance of winning.  As I said though, he doesn't work well vs the more modern GLs (Vader and later).

So, I think there's plenty there for you to go on.

    1. On the whole, stick to your chosen path.  Big unlocks  (like GLs) will massively improve your game.  JML isn't the best choice.
    2.  However, you have been neglecting ships, and they bring in the crystals and gain/give away the most points in Carbonite.
    3.  You have shown you can mod well (Piett), but you can improve your modding greatly (Wampa).
    4.   You need to be more careful with omicron choices.  (Traya and Savage instead of Chirpa, Tarkin and Krapnic).
    5.  Getting Traya, Savage, Nihilus and Wat Tambor working as effective tools in your GAC toolbox will up your game.

  • GAC is a fickle mistress, My FTP account is 3ish years old ~7m GP, 2 GLs and is currently in Bronzium 1, Took me almost 2.5 years to escape Carbonite.

My Main, which is a few weeks older than my FTP, and bought a bunch of LSBs, got into a guild doing RoTE, 13ish Mil GP is hanging out in Kyber 2.

Keep at it, find teams that can get holds (Traya/Savage with omicrons gets holds for me for example) and find counters for teams that you normally encounter (Starkiller as a Rey counter, SEE/Wat works great most of the time for JML, etc.).  Learn more about modding and Data Crons (DCs are probably the best bet to move up quickly-ish).

You'll rise and fall, but the losses can teach you more than the wins can IMO. Hope it helps.

  • If you leave your ally code, maybe we can take a look at what you have and some of your past GAC performances.

So, there's a mechanic called 'squish'.  To balance the divisions so that the leagues don't get too top/bot heavy, squish is applied before the start of the season.  Squish will push you towards division 3.  This means climbing from 4-5 to 3 is boosted.  Whereas staying in division 2 is handicapped.  If you finish the season in division 1 you get promoted and boosted.

I don't think negative squish is a lot in Carbonite, but if you don't get promoted, you're swimming against the current.

The more time in the game, the more you add to your portfolio, the more likely you are to escape carbonite.  In short, it will happen sooner or later, just keep trying.

Using fewer slots on offensive teams or filling your defences?  Do not leave any defence slots unfilled.  Even if it means using very weak teams.  Leaving slots open and a meta fleet was a tactic developed by a youtuber, but it's extremely flawed.   As for leaving empty spaces on offensive teams (under-manning).  It is a good idea, if it wins you banners.

I'm unsure what to advise here.  Known under-manning teams will work.  Trying to save banners by always leaving an empty space, may actually end up costing you banners.  You see some very skilful players in K1/K2 with smaller accounts who have become masters of 'banner pinching'.  It's an artform.  However, it also can cost you the match and is very meta dependent.  If you know what you're doing and are confident, go for it.  If not, maybe it's better to play safe.

No, if you lose, you lose points.  You're basically on the same ladder as everybody else.  We win, we climb up.  We lose we climb down.  The first round gives the most points, the third round gives the least points (but there's not a lot in it).  You are also losing some points between seasons due to squish (as I wrote earlier).  So, you'll have to go up on merit, not experience.

Again, leave your ally code and I'll be happy to have a look at a few things and point out anything that sticks out as something that needs to change.

thank you for replying. This means a lot, I don’t feel alone!

I am sharing my ally code here : 398-292-955

This anniversary  year I am aiming to get as much light speed tokens I can.  And open 2 GL:  Lei a Orgnana and JMLSkywalker.

Recently I collected an Inquisitor team. This would be useful!
