With regard to your post, I have found the same to be true, they are slow. With other ships, the advice I've been given is to speed-up the pilots, but that is not an option for these. Is it possible this is the trade-off of not having to gear pilots as well as develop the ships?
I think it is... You can't have ships sans pilot gear grind and expect them to outdo, likely, relic 7 ships (opponents Anakin).
