I use Lando as lead if I need the speed. For example, if the bonus from having Lando lead lets my STHan go first, I'll do that. If I don't need the extra speed, then Wedge is the better choice.
And yes, Lando heals from each individual crit, just like Wedge's AoE. Both are good options for damage and regenerating a whole bunch of health quickly.
