What do all of the character statistics do?

I'm a little bit fuzzy when it comes to the stats in this game. I figure strength has to do with physical damage and maybe health, agility with speed and accuracy, but what about intelligence, tenacity, etc.?

I apologize if the answers were hidden in plain sight but I never found any explanations in the game menu and the various forum conversations...
