What do you do in GAC when you have a high GP disadvantage?

When you get matched with people with significantly higher GP than you (in my case, when my opponent has considerably more relic characters and teams than me), what strategies do you use to try to secure a win?

  • You haven't provided us with any useful information to help you with your strategy.

Have you looked at your opponent's GAC history to understand why they are being matched with lesser GP opponents? Chances are, there are clues there that will drive your strategy. My baby account at 1.4m was paired with a 4.5m opponent. But when I looked at his history, he auto-sets and never attacks. So I can do one token attack for 10 banners to win the round. You may have a similar case.
  • Yeah for me there's no one size fits all strategy there. Most of the major mismatches in roster are a smart player with a good win ratio climbing up to meet a player on the fall due to poor use of roster/inactivity/lack of desire.

I'm aware that I didn't provide much detail and I was trying to see if there was a general rule people were following. I participate in GAC but I don't research my opponents (aside from looking at their rosters).
I know that you can easily win against an inactive player, but what do you do in case they do decide to attack?

And that, to quote Yoda, is why you fail.

There is no one-size-fits-all strategy. You have to understand why they're being matched up with you. If they are egregiously high GP, maybe they don't play, and they are in a free-fall down the rankings? Then setting a strong defense would be a waste. If they play, maybe they're bad tackling certain teams, so you'd want to place those teams on your defense.

We get so much information about our opponents these days, it really doesn't take more than 10 minutes to get a good overview of your opponent, see what their weaknesses are, and predict what they are going to do.
  • I research my opponents and find out what kind of player they are which then drives my strategy. Sometimes I place a difficult defense if I know I won't be able to full clear them, and other times I might go full offense if I think I can and I can win on fleets.
  • I personally don’t care enough about GAC to spend huge amounts of time researching enemies / planning attacks. I just set my best of the best (Executor, oQGJ, a hodgepodge SEE team) on defense and the rest of my heavy relics (DR, JKR, IT, Empire) for offense, then usually mix up what I have remaining. As my roster grows I might swap out teams, but that’s the general idea.

Executor for an outside-Kyber player is huge. I haven’t gone flawless, but I’m pretty close to it.
  • Do the same things.
Deploy (almost the same every match regardless the opposite GP), and remember to attack at least once.
