What should I spend normal energy on?

Until recently, I've spent all my normal energy on hard nodes for characters, branching out to grab a white, green or blue piece of gear when needed.

I just finished driodeka recently, leaving my only actual energy farm to be IG-2000. There's plenty of toons I don't have 7*, but I don't feel the need to farm them because I'm sure they'll never be geared barring a rework. I'm talking toons like Baze, Rangetrooper (if that's the wrong name, the stompy ones with the boots from Solo), Vandor, etc.

I've been grabbing g13 and the new gear (kyrotechs?) instead of characters recently. I'd like to hear other's thoughts on this strategy- go for gear, or farm chars?

    Range trooper is very good in the IT team. Zvandor with others scoundrels make one of the best D teams for GAC/TW.
    Jango+HT is a good “deal”, 2 in one hardnode.
    After you 7* talzin you can get 2 zetas a month, so you probably want her (and NS is a good team and seems that you don’t have then starred or geared)

    The goal was to bring IT up, but I stopped in the g9-11 range. Don't plan on gearing them any further, and most NS are stronger than that. They aren't very useful in GeoTB either.

    Jango's got shards for 6*, but my BH have already got Chewie so I don't see much point in getting Jango. HT is 7*. Guess Bossk and the Fetts could be another NS counter, but for now Traya is reliable (and maybe overkill).

    Good point on Talzin. Forgot about her. Might get her, since I already have NS pretty much starred. Always could use zetas.

    Well, IT is’nt a top tier team and with the new TB they lost some usefulness but they still counter some good teams like NS (and let your traya free to use against others teams) .
    NS are very good in lots of places like HSTR, GAC, TW so I really think that they are an excellent investment.
    You already got chewie (and with the BH pilots), but jango brings much more to the team than ig88, if you decide to farm and gear jango you won’t regret. And maybe put some gear on dengar (under bossk leader he is a heal machine).
    And scoundrel with zvandor are a very good Defense team.
    I think you have a lot of options now hahahah

    That's kinda the problem. Yeah, NS are good, Range and Vandor would be good additions to their teams, but I've got this mound of gear with a "reserved for Malak" sign on it, and once I get him it'll be full throttle on Sep Droids, then GR, then Geos for Wat, and then maybe I'll have time to gear a team, but most likely it'll be time for Geo light side. But even if I do have time for gearing up old toons, I'll probably wanna take my rebels or resistance or empire or Wampa to higher levels, instead of getting a whole new toon. I don't actually expect to even hit geos in before something new takes priority.

    How dare resources be finite.
