I haven’t seen an in-depth breakdown comparing FOTP and FO Executioner in arena, but my inclination is that FOTP would be better in shorter encounters like arena while FO Executioner would outclass him in longer encounters, particularly raids, where his TM bonuses and stacking damage would really pay off. He may also be better in arena, but FOTP’s damage is tough to beat.
FOX is much better in arena.
Thanks for the “in-depth breakdown.”
Doesn’t need to be in depth, his kit is more useful and has a dispel. And his damage is better over the battle
“Because I said so,” isn’t evidence of anything, is the point. If someone can show numbers to back up the statement that FOE is definitively better, great. I don’t doubt he is better in raids. I’d like to see some actual comparisons between maxed out FOTP and FOE before I accept that FOE is the best option in arena. His kit indicates he needs a while for his damage to ramp up, whereas FOTP can do elite damage from the start. And you need that damage early and often in arena.
An assertion with no evidence to support it is useless. I’m not contending that FOTP is better. FOE might be the best option. But I would like someone to give a detailed explanation of why, preferably with numbers attached, before we just go with the blanket assumption that FOE is the best option in arena.
All of the top FO guys have long dropped FOTP for basically everything. I did a long review on reddit the day after he came out. It is dated, and I don't want to type a whole new long review at this point, but:
I was very doubtful about FOX replacing FOTP when he was released, but I acquired him day 1 and put him at G12, and he was far superior. What makes him superior?
Damage is on par with FOTP. He starts a little lower and is stronger by the end of an arena fight. He is the focal point of the offense of the team. But that's not what sets him apart. The dispel and TM gains do.
On his special: Dispel allows you to take out squishies instead of hitting the main tank. It pulls down starting taunts (shoretrooper, baze) and gives access to good targets. While it does that, it removes 50% TM from the target, also huge. On top of that, on every crit he gives 10% TM to the team and he himself gains 100% or 60% TM, depending on if he kills the target.
So, a hit removes 50% TM from an enemy, gives 50% (sometimes 40%) TM to the team, and 60-100% TM to himself. Yeah.... that's good. And aside from that, the hit is huge.
On his basic, he gives 50% TM to the team and if you play it right, he gains advantage.
It's not just a matter of numbers here -- it's a matter of TM given and the dispel. And on top of that, he hits very hard.
The level of utility he brings because of this is remarkable. There is a reason none of us use FOTP anymore. Here is a video of my team against a high end sith team. Note that this video has FO going first, which is a VERY different fight than FO going second (we can win both handily).
