In the meantime, it'd be no harm to rule out a Google Play cache issue and to confirm that everything with the Play Store has been updated to the latest version and that is not what is causing the error message for you. Before doing so, jot down your Player ID or Ally code for your own record keeping while you're still in your game on the Miui 12.

I'll share a screenshot of how to clear the Play Store cache below (source from the Google Help Center). After that, restarting the Play Store and installing the SWGOH app again should do the trick I hope. Let me know if that works for you.
