I've had the same problem for several months. I have contacted EA as well. Absolutely ridiculous. Mods are so important at end game level yet I can't upgrade new ones or switch loadouts for events.
Have you heard back from EA? We need a solution not "we recognize there's an issue" or "unable to reproduce the game freezing" as I've seen on the forums.
I agree it's really frustrating to be stuck in place knowing you have upgradable mods but can't use them...can't sell any mods so my Mod Inventory Cap is maxed out so I can't even move mods around. Secondly, earned mods from events sit in my Inbox then get deleted (timed out) bc there's no space to claim them.

This was caused by one or more of your mod loadouts having a name starting with either a number or a space. These have been corrected now and you should no longer run into any issues.
