Re: Grand Arena - Cannot view locked roster

There is absolutely no design logic to show me what I've obtained since roster lock. Can a developer please explain why if we are going to argue this isn't an issue.

    @nabokovfan87 The Devs don’t post here, this forum is for QA support to collect and track bugs.

    If you want to start a conversation about the resources and code required to display each player’s locked inventory and allow opponents to view them, the discussion is most appropriate on the main forums. Keep in mind, when you are selecting characters for defensive setup, it is displaying the locked versions of them - so if the concern is jut for your own rosters you can view them there.
  • So... There's two choices.

    1. Display active roster (I can find their allycode, view their roster, add as ally, view roster, etc.  It makes absolutely no sense to show the roster in a secondary place if it is just repeated from another source.

    2.  Show locked rosters.  This is the way the event is actually designed. You aren't competing against an active player but a player in a specific state. There is a specific place for that state to be displayed, obviously it can be shown here, and strategically, it should be.

    To your comment, I actually do understand the requirements that go into the database needed for the listing of everyone's locked rosters.  This isn't like TW where you are able to view a team beforehand and plan. You are setting a defense and the data itself is sometimes very out of date because the rounds are delayed so much. Again, this is an issue.  If the EA Devs aren't here to explain why.... Then I certainly believe no one should be speaking for them.

  • The fact that I see "locked" characters when placing them means the data is already stored and logged somewhere and I should be able to view it on the specified GAC screen as I mentioned in the first post.

    @nabokovfan87 I don't believe the live roster is "shown" anywhere. Anytime you view a player you are looking at the same information, whether you enter the ally code manually or click on the player within the GA menu. Both take you to the same screen - but giving access to the locked roster currently isn't in game.

    Regardless, if you want answers from a Dev, you won't find them here. I recommend you start a thread in the main forums or ask your question during a monthly Q&A.
  • @GladOS-013the locked roster is available in 2 spots. In the selection screen when placing units as well as the defensive zones once a unit is placed. That data has to be stored, there is absolutely no reason that can't be shown under the GAC matchup inventory for both players.  This is a bug that needs to be fixed, not a design choice.

    @nabokovfan87 Unfortunately, you are incorrect. It would be a bug if the devs intended players to be able to view the entirety of another player's locked roster, but you were unable to do so.

    Just because the game servers have the info does not mean the devs intended to give us access. The devs did not give us access to view our opponent rosters. The only pieces we can see are the units they place on defense.

    I'm sorry you don't like this answer, but it's reality. If you continue to feel very strongly on the subject, I've given you multiple suggestions on how to advance your proposal. I would also like access to my opponent's roster because I like to do research before I set defenses.

  • Again, you are speaking for the designer. If you don't have actual proof, knowledge from the team that this is the case then you are assuming it was meant to be a specific way. I am saying that it is an oversight, meaning it is intended to be one way and is not.

    @nabokovfan87 And you are assuming Devs intended is to have access to view players locked rosters, despite no evidence to support that assumption. No buttons in-game indicate they should lead to the locked roster, and Roster locks have existed since the first territory war.

    Additional information that you and I have that supports my claim is that EA_MindTricks marked my answer as the solution to your post, meaning they agree.

    Again, I'm sorry you don't like this answer, but it's reality.
  • Firstly, I am trying to have a constructive conversation regarding the issue.  Secondly, I don't know who marked the thread as resolved, I don't see that, just that it's been marked. Lastly, who is EA_Mindtricks, does he work for CG, the game developers?  The "solution" marked was to go post on the forums. I have already done this.

    As I mentioned before, and I don't think you understand @GladOS-013 WE DO have access to view locked rosters under GACs currently.  This is shown in two locations, the character selection screen when setting defense as well as our opponent's defense that has been placed in the match. You can hard press on the character and view their stats, abilities, mods, etc.  This is also true for territory war.

    That information is stored somewhere and should be available (for ease of use, strategy under the GAC mode) in the inventory screen.  This information is available and should be linked.  Please let me know if you need any further details regarding where to view a roster in either state and what I am specifically reporting.

    @nabokovfan87 It appears that you keep trying to insist this is a bug - rather than having a constructive conversation (which should take place in the main forums) about how much this information might benefit players.

    I do understand the limited scope in which you can view some units in an opponent's locked roster, and the limited opportunity to view your own locked units. I have already agreed that I would like to see it. The question then becomes - is building an access portal to the locked rosters worth the Devs' time?

    And that conversation doesn't belong here. Perhaps you can provide a link to the discussion over on the main forums, and then we can close this thread?

    The intentory screen, layout, contents are already designed. Work and time aside, a bug is a bug, an issue is an issue. The point of this section is to report, log them. The point isn't to decide what is and isn't to be worked on. That is the developers Job. They can have a bug on a list and let it sit for many many months, but at least it's being tracked and is in a list somewhere.

    That is specifically how maintenance of aprogram actually works in many engineering environments. It's a key component and typically there are several engineers assigned for such tasks. If things are ignored then issues nearly always get exacerbated. I am not trying to carry on and make this thread long winded and useless. I've reported the issue, I've given them any details needed, and I was told to go elsewhere Immediately because of various reasons. Finally, I'm told the above, which shows the massive disconnect between someone who is trying to report an issue, and actually having those issues logged to a useful avenue.

    And a request for a new feature is neither a bug nor an issue.   It's an opportunity for improvement,  which belongs elsewhere.

    I certainly appreciate your enthusiasm and would like to see these improvements added to the game, which is why I've been trying to direct you to the correct  destination! I hope your suggestion is well received!
