Correct, but it's unclear to me on whether a buff like Speed Up would factor changes to the character after it's applied. I'd think it would.

Yeah, it's an interesting question, because there aren't that many buffs that apply at the start of an encounter. It seems like it's something that's not actively referencing speed, but evaluates the speed when applied. Which is probably fine in most other situations.
It begs the question of if a character got offense up, then got offense increased, if the offense up is still just adding based off of original offense. Or, if everything will get updated the next time something evaluates the offense stat, like dealing damage.

Yeah, that's why I ultimately felt that this thread is necessary. It's entirely possible that this is WAI, but without any existing example in the game mechanically to check as precedent, there's no way to know without a dev coming in and saying so.
If it is WAI, it starts to pose some weird questions about stuff like how buffs interact with mechanics like stacking mastery. - EA_Gunner4 years ago
