Burglars don't seem to be working in this version of the game. I'll often hear the audio sting at night, but no one appears (sometimes it's the raccoon of course but other time it's nothing at all). A few times when I've been able to see the edge of the lot, I've seen the burglar appear for a moment after the sting plays, but he immediately disappears while still at the edge of the lot.

Yes i also have this issue. For me i would often see in the right corner a "burglar!" pop up but then he dissapears within a split second and i also noticed that sometimes an object would also go missing in my house.
Sometimes the robbery also occurs like normal. I m not sure what causes it. I also heard that sometimes if there is nothing the game considers "valuable" present on the lot, the robbery will get canceled.
I hear the music too and never see him. Wondered why he was never in the game

Same issue. In Legacy, I get the sound effect in the middle of the night, but no burglar shows up. I once saw the burglar briefly appear at the lot entrance portal, but disappear immediately after.
I believe this has been a long standing bug from the original expansions, but intermittent or only affecting some users. I had the same problem in my original copy of Sims 1 Complete, and there are (scarce) reports of it around the internet.
Also happening to me. Don't remember it happening in the original for me. Although nice not having things stolen, it's a fun extra game element that I'm not getting to experience now which makes me sad. Hoping it can be fixed soon.
I think this bug was also in the original Sims 1 as I remember it happening there.
Hi, I'm also having this problem. I've had many instances of the event music playing and the small picture-and-picture camera popping up for a split second, but I haven't gotten a burglar yet. Often when it glitches, it will glitch twice in a row. Any time it successfully resolves, it is only ever a raccoon or skunk.
I've played for about 15 hours over the last 4 days in multiple households and deleted all my burglar alarms in case there was any code that reduced the risk of the event showing up but I'm not getting them no matter how much fancy stuff I have on my lot :(
I just had something similar happen in my game... The "live event" camera even showed the burglar for half a second then went away before I could click on it then I searched the whole lot and there was no sign of him.
