Constantly crashing

I bought the legacy collection for Steam last Saturday and the Sims 1 would constantly crash, usually when I went to a Magic community lot, but I could tolerate it because it wasn’t that bad. When I was playing this week it started to crash even more, and I noticed it was when there were a lot of stray pets on my lot, so I put a no pets sign up. Yesterday it got to the point where I can’t even open the lot where my main sim lives. I was frequently saving the game because of the constant crashes but because I was in the middle of throwing a party, the game will crash several seconds after opening the lot. I’m sure it’s because there are too many people but this is ridiculous. I am playing at the slow speed also. Please fix this! Also, it’s impossible to bathe dogs in the pet tub; the sims fill it up, call the pet over, and drain it. I have had zero issues with sims 2 ::knocks on all visible wood::
