Overview
This thread will list known issues reported with the new release of the original Sims game as well as some frequently asked questions.&nbsp; This does not include any information about Sims 2.
This site's anchors don't work, meaning you can't jump to a section within a post.&nbsp; So please go over the Index below and then use ctrl-F to search for a relevant keyword.
If you see your issue on the list,&nbsp;please post in the linked thread.&nbsp; This site doesn't support merging whole threads either, only moving replies, so we already have a lot of duplicates, which are being closed down to try to contain the chaos.&nbsp; Please just use the master thread, or the longest one you can find.
If your game is crashing or you're seeing a performance issue, please attach a dxdiag to your post. &nbsp;Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. &nbsp;From there, you can attach it to an OP or reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Game won't launch
If you have a Windows PC and the game won't launch,&nbsp;and you see an error when you try to play, please create your own thread.&nbsp; Post a screenshot of the error message.
If your game won't launch and you see&nbsp;no error message, please try uninstalling and reinstalling your 2015 and newer VC++ runtimes, as described here:
Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Open Windows Settings &gt; Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, and uninstall everything from 2015 and newer. Don't touch the older versions.
Download the x86 and x64 versions (not the ARM version) of the 2022 runtimes from Microsoft:

Install the runtimes, restart your computer, and try to play.

Can't change language

Crashing
There are apparently a number of different triggers for crashes, and some crashes have no apparent trigger.&nbsp; Please try to find yours on the list below, and if you don't, feel free to start your own thread.
In any case, please include a dxdiag. &nbsp;Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. &nbsp;From there, you can attach it to an OP or reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Objects not rendering
In every case where I've seen a dxdiag, the user had a very outdated graphics driver.&nbsp; So if you know how to update yours, please try that first.&nbsp; If that doesn't help, or you don't know how to update, please post in this thread:Sims 1 objects glitch. | EA Forums - 11850932

Performance issues without crashing
Please create your own thread describing exactly what you mean: framerate drops, stuttering, delay when clicking a sim or object, etc.&nbsp; Please also provide a dxdiag. &nbsp;Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. &nbsp;From there, you can attach it to your post using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Can I run this game on my Mac?
The Sims: Legacy Edition doesn't run in macOS.&nbsp; If you have an Intel Mac, you can use Boot Camp to partition the drive and install Windows on one side.&nbsp; The game should work just as well as it does on a standard Windows PC.&nbsp; If you have an ARM Mac, you can try playing in Parallels, although as of this writing it's unclear whether the game works there at all.&nbsp; Whisky doesn't work with the EA App.
Can I redeem my product code from the original release and get this one for free?
Nope, sorry.
Is this a time-limited release?
No, there's no indication that this game or the bundle will be disappearing any time soon.&nbsp; The current price is also standard, not a temporary discount.
Do I need an EA Play subscription to run this game?
No, both the individual releases and the bundle are standalone and do not require a subscription.
Can I choose which Sims 4 kit(s) I get with my order?
No.
Where are my saves and other user data located?
C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\Electronic Arts\The Sims 25
The UserData* folders correspond to neighborhoods 1 through 8, and relevant data—sims, houses, photos, etc.—is in various subfolders.
Can I import my saves from the original version of The Sims?
Yes, replace the corresponding UserData folder above, and your save data will show up in the game.
Can I restart my progress?
Yes, rename or move the "The Sims 25" folder out of here:
C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\Electronic Arts
When you launch the game, it will create a new "The Sims 25" folder, and all of your previous progress will be gone.&nbsp; If you only want to remove some progress, restore the UserData subfolders from the neighborhoods you want to preserve, but only after you've allowed the game to generate a new folder.
