I need to refresh my memory about something (jobs, friends)

What I remember from Sims 1, is that you at some point needed certain amount of friends to get promoted (something I really don't miss, since making friends in TS1 was a total pain). What I can't reme...

No, you wouldn't get demoted for losing a friend. You'd just need an extra friend for the next promotion.
