Hi all,
We’re sorry that it’s not clear how the UI scales at different resolutions. Here's a bit of an explanation for this- The ‘native’ resolution that the game knows about is 800x600 pixels, so when working with different monitor sizes the game will attempt to scale the UI in multiples of 600 to make sure it looks as clear as possible.
On some resolutions this can make a scaling decision that is smaller than you might be expecting. You can get a larger UI by selecting a resolution that offers a multiple of 600 (i.e. 600, 1200, 1800, 2400).
Each resolution size offered in the game tells you the aspect ration that will be used, and the resolution offered will determine the addressable size of the game canvas. Note that the game canvas will use the aspect ratio of the selected resolution, and will use Windows to scale the canvas to the size of the window (if in Windowed mode) or to full screen (if in full screen mode).
I might not know everything about computers but it honest still doesn't work for me. My laptop is the 1920 x 1080p. I tried all the resolution settings in the game. It makes the UI bigger but won't cover the full screen...even in full screen mode? It just shows as a box in the middle of my laptop screen?
The only way around it for me is to change the actual laptop's resolution settings but we shouldn't have to do that every time we want to play and then have to change it back. Could this be because it's such an old game? Is there anyway to fix it at all? 1920 x 1080 is so common though. I would've thought it'd be more likely to work on that than the bigger modern monitors.
The other thing I've noticed too is that if you pause your game for even 2-5 minutes, the computer's screen saver comes up and minimises the game. I turned my screen saver off too so I don't know why it is doing it? It never did it before. I think it's because of this new borderless window mode or something? Does it with both sims 1 and 2 after the update. Please find a solution or let us know if it isn't possible to fix.
