Screen resolution issue still persists even after latest update.

Unfortunately this update has not helped my situation at all. The UI is STILL too tiny and the game does not zoom in far enough. Yes the picture is really clear and all but this is really straining my eyes. Even with glasses. Nothing has changed with this update. I can see there has been an option added in settings to choose the resolution but this does not fix my issue at all. It just remains the same. I've tested out the other resolution settings and it just gets worse and then half my screen is black. I am now also experiencing this with sims 2 and I'm and quite annoyed as that game was actually running pretty perfect before this update. EA...seriously...this is frustrating and no...the whole Alt+Enter thing does not work and hasn't worked the whole time since day 1. I'm pretty frustrated now.

    Hi all,

We’re sorry that it’s not clear how the UI scales at different resolutions. Here's a bit of an explanation for this- The ‘native’ resolution that the game knows about is 800x600 pixels, so when working with different monitor sizes the game will attempt to scale the UI in multiples of 600 to make sure it looks as clear as possible.

On some resolutions this can make a scaling decision that is smaller than you might be expecting. You can get a larger UI by selecting a resolution that offers a multiple of 600 (i.e. 600, 1200, 1800, 2400).

Each resolution size offered in the game tells you the aspect ration that will be used, and the resolution offered will determine the addressable size of the game canvas. Note that the game canvas will use the aspect ratio of the selected resolution, and will use Windows to scale the canvas to the size of the window (if in Windowed mode) or to full screen (if in full screen mode).

  • I'm running on a 1920 x 1080p monitor and it's still not working for me. And Alt + Enter is still not rescaling the UI, all it's doing for me is toggling windowed mode. I'm baffled by how EA still hasn't managed to fix this issue.

How dare you talk to me that way. Insolence will not be tolerated.

I wrote the comment that it works on 4k widesscreen for the dev team to clarify where it works and does not work.

  • I just want to say that it looks great on my ultrawidescreen 4k monitor, so there's no issues there.

Is it really hard for EA to find a 1080P monitor to go test this on?

Fr tho! all they did was slap resolutions in the settings they didn't do anything to fix the scaling of new native resolutions. Like we could just change our resolution through the Windows settings if we wanted to. it does nothing! EA fix the scaling at 1080P, 1440P, and 4K.

It is terrible. Do EA even know wtf they are doing? Do they even test anything before they release it? Every single time, there is an issue and no solution. They should have had it working perfect before they released this game and they should have given it to everyone for free. In fact, they should fix the game, give us all our money back but let us keep the game to compensate for this huge waste of time and their incompetence. I'm not gonna stop complaining until they do because we've all paid good money for this and its absolute crap.

  • I wish they would release a definitive edition that didn't break legacy mods compatibility. The rerelease was a terrible experience
