Screen resolution issue still persists even after latest update.

Unfortunately this update has not helped my situation at all. The UI is STILL too tiny and the game does not zoom in far enough. Yes the picture is really clear and all but this is really straining my eyes. Even with glasses. Nothing has changed with this update. I can see there has been an option added in settings to choose the resolution but this does not fix my issue at all. It just remains the same. I've tested out the other resolution settings and it just gets worse and then half my screen is black. I am now also experiencing this with sims 2 and I'm and quite annoyed as that game was actually running pretty perfect before this update. EA...seriously...this is frustrating and no...the whole Alt+Enter thing does not work and hasn't worked the whole time since day 1. I'm pretty frustrated now.

Hey. Yes i know this. I know to close the game and reopen. I have in fact tried all the resolutions. I did the day the update was released. Unfortunately for me...it wasn't resolved :(

But what exactly happens on your end? The resolution doesn't change at all after reopening the game?

I currently have my game set the game to 1066x600, then press Alt Enter to make the image full screen.

The 1066x600 is then scaled to fill the screen and the UI gets big.

  • For 1080p a 2x scale would be from a base res of 540p. That's too small for the game to work. Sprites and things will be oddly scaled. You can set the game to 1364x768 and then Fullscreen that.

Let me make sure I'm understanding you correctly, so I don't take it out of the wrong context.

Are you saying that: If my monitor's max resolution is 1920x1080 I'm out of luck?

Or, if you're saying set the game's settings to that as a workaround so the game thinks your monitor is bigger, please be more specific: Where is the game or EA app is that?

Is it in Settings somewhere or is it to be put in the launch command line in the EA App?

I don't mean to say that if it's my monitor, I'll be upset at you because I won't be. I'll just say, I need a new monitor because mine has dead pixels or something because if I told people the real reason, I'd need a new one, they'd be like, "No one needs a new monitor for one game or shall I say more accurately a pair of games (I have 1 and 2.)"

     To which I'd say,

"EA made the game." then some of gamer friends would reply,

"I see what you mean, get them a new monitor!"

We’re sorry that it’s not clear how the UI scales at different resolutions.

We shouldn't have to do math to figure this out because, I am very knowledgeable about computers but I have a math learning disability and truly cannot do those kinds of calculations. EA should have done that before release. If you can't make something playable at 1920x1080 which is regular HD, then it should never have been released.

I just want to say that it looks great on my ultrawidescreen 4k monitor, so there's no issues there.

Please tell us how you got it to work, step by step so it can work for us who have lowly 1920x1080.

so in the game when you load a lot, go to settings and click the monitor icon and play with the resolutions in game and see which ones you like that make the ui bigger and the game easier to play. Keep in mind when you change the resolution in the game you must exit the game and launch it again.

Sims mega deluxe’s resolution is different to yours. Because it’s at 4K the game is up scaling I think by 3x. If you play with the in game setting resolutions and find the one that fits best for you, don’t forget to exit and relaunch the game for the resolution to apply.

It's a shame that this is suggested as a solution, as it doesn't just fix the interface but also reduces the image quality. It gives a jagged result.
