Since you didn't refund because you were following the troubleshooting here on the forums, you can provide some screenshots of your replies to the EA advisor on the support chat. They'll be able to refund your game :)

im in the same predicament though it is impossible to do a live chat anymore! how the hell do we get a refund when we can no longer do a live chat. and yes ive tried everywhere to bring up a live chat but cant find one anywhere.
If you're browsing the english language support area, the "Chat with us" button should be below the "Read article" button. Other languages sometimes only feature e-mail support.
