tercy1975 The HD Graphics 5500 is Vulkan-compatible, but may not be compatible with Sims 1, which lists the newer HD Graphics 620 as the minimum requirement. So unless you have another computer to play on, you may need to cut your losses and get a refund.
Still, you can keep an eye on the master thread for a general fix to the Vulkan error, and when one exists, test the game again yourself. Even though you're under the minimum requirement, the game might still work on your system once this particular error is cleared up.

Thank you puzzlezaddict. I was thinking about requesting a refund, but I'll probably keep an eye on the master thread. This is the first time I've had problems with a Sims game opening or loading!
