The Sims (1) Mirror's won't work for child?

This topic is quite curious, I don't recall being able to change a child's appearance using the mirror. The only way I could change their appearance was through the wardrobe. Upon carefully observing this and other topics, many elements of the game disappeared with the Legacy version. What makes me happy and hopeful is that the community itself is reporting their absence, and this shows how important these details are to us.
