Unable to install the Sims Complete Collection (2005), help please?

So initially I insert disc 1 into the cd drive of course and click the pop up, then allow the installer to pop up. When in the menu I select 'install' of the options. After this point the menu freez...

To install the game, simply browse the CD contents and run setup.exe instead of using the Autorun launcher.

Running the game is more complicated, since the game DRM (SafeDisc) doesn't work on newer operating systems. Here are some more in depth explanations on the issue:
