- Anmirla10 years agoSeasoned AceNot only are there "chance" cards, but sometimes after reaching the top of their career and a random pop-up will occur letting you know that something has happened at work and they have changed careers. Two or three of the careers take you to the same job, but most fall within a specific rotation. I used to have it written down, but it was in my Makin' Magic Prima Guide and somewhere in our many moves, it got lost. :(
I can't remember specifically, but I think one is going to work in the Science career and getting the pop-up something along the lines of drinking an experimental potion, then developing maniacal laugh and then being in the Criminal career (or it was the opposite direction :o )!
According to the Prima Guide, TS1 was supposed to have chance cards that allowed you to make a choice, but I guess there wasn't enough time to implement it in game or whatever other reason it wasn't to be until TS2. - @Goldbear86
I sent you PM with all info as it was way off topic here :)
@Anmirla
so sims can change careers which is out of our control then? Is there anything else we have no control over in 1? "Goldbear86;15237878" wrote:

Well I've never seen this in later games...

i'm pretty sure this happened in ts2 all the time when you send them to work :$
I've never had that happen. Lost a skill point or been demoted or fired but never an actual shoot out.
The chance cards from one and two are so much better than the later series.
ooh you meant that. i thought you meant they didn't lose points in other games :D sorry- Anmirla10 years agoSeasoned AceI can't remember anything else off hand that is so random to change your Sim's life as this in TS1. Other than fires or requesting Genie wishes, everything else pretty much allows you to be SimGod. ;)

Lol I don't like to think I am not in total control of my sims most of the time in any series :) - Anmirla10 years agoSeasoned AceSometimes we forced to accept the position of Demi-god. >:) :D
- @Anmirla
hahaha well its probably about the only occasion in my life that I will ever get to play a god Demi or otherwise lol
The one thing I love about 2 ( and probably 1 does this ) is the way the sims look up at us shrugging their shoulders and getting into a temper tantrum when forcing them to do something they do not want to do :)
Today I made quite an ugly female sim into a very good looking one and after I had finished the hair and make up etc the sim stomped their foot shrugging their shoulders and shaking their head at the reflection in the mirror and it made me laugh so much as I have never seen that before the ungrateful b...h :) - MidnightAura8610 years agoSeasoned AceI love the way sims 2 sims do that. Mine also do that if I make them say be flirty with someone they aren't really keen on. One of them stopped looked at the camera and shrugged before doing as he was told. It was like he was saying "Are you really going to make me do this?!"
When the sims 1 sims needs are low they look up and wave their arms with the need bubble flashing. I do think it's funny when you ask them to do something say skill build when their needs are low and they shake their head and refuse point blank saying they are too depressed. - @Goldbear86
I notice certain traits appear to cause sims to be sloppy and hate cleaning so when I am playing those sims I am constantly getting the looks, and shoulder shrugs when I make them clean up, also in 2 I have noticed if they are tired they will also flat out refuse to do something.. I love it as it makes it feel so real :)
I am having PC problems when I fire up my PC it keeps saying it needs repairing and sometimes boots into my SSD so I am really unhappy right now and trying to back up all my games again... >:) - You guys are making me want to buy TS1 again! Last time I had it was when I was like 10 and 3 houses ago so I am sure they are long gone. Or in a dusty box somewhere. OMG i just bought TS3 games like last month! TS4 just doesn't intrigue me other than the graphics and how easy it is to build :neutral:
