Who's still playing the Sims 1 from time to time?

I have moved so many times I have lost count lol so I understand about losing stuff-)

I bought a really good condition box set complete collection from eBay for a very reasonable price so you can still get them in good condition..

I just spent all day reinstalling 1 on my desktop and after fiddling around with the administrator rights and uninstalling 1 microsoft update it all loaded but again the sim detail to me is horrible but I am going to play it regardless-)

I started with a household of 2 males and females, the house is quite small so all the objects I want to see them using are stuck outside lol

Of course me being big into me entertainment we have to have the bar and hot tub-)

if you look closely you can see how the sim is quite fuzzy and often when getting closer its like they have little holes in the skin but there is nothing I can do about it I don't think this is why I uninstalled it before..

Also while installing I kept getting messages about not having 64MB of Ram lol when I have 16GB so I am assuming the game cannot access ram for some reason and wondered if you had that problem or if you know there is anyway I could fix it?

Anyway I am still delighted to have it running it made my day :)

Do you know if there is sparkly food in sims 1?

I can quite understand if you played 1 a long time ago for a lengthy amount of time why you might not be as interested now however I started with 3 and then went to 2 UC which I had hardly played before and love I it so I thought I better try 1 just to play and experience the series.. and I already know graphics aside I will have some fun with it so I feel its worth my time and effort..

I cannot understand why your loading screens took so long mine are super quick..

The music everyone loves 1 music don't they :)

I still love my 3 series and I do play 4 but not for very long as it get boring very quickly....

I think I can say at this point I play 2 more now than any other series....

I played one for a few hours today and was getting frustrated with myself because I hardly know anything about the game so keep having to stop and write my questions down so I can check on line later lol I dare not simply go from game to desktop and back again like I do with 2,3&4 as the very first time I tried that on the first install it caused problems with my game... :)

I love looking at all pics if you have any of your 2 game just post them :)

Yeah the graphics aren't the best, but there is other advantages to the game.

There's no sparkly food in the sims 1 but the higher the cooking skill and if you use a food processor it gives the meal more food points.

You can ignore that message about ram. I got it when I installed it on my my old laptop and it probably came up when my husband finally got it working.

I hope you feel better soon I know for sure when I do not feel well I cannot concentrate properly on my sims games as I have usually got goals in mind which I cannot be bothered with if I don't feel well :)

I did ignore the ram message but of course when you get messages like that it's a worry the game is not installing properly or won't load when you try-)

I got stumped on trying to send the 4 of my roommate sims to downtown together -) and I still don't know because I stopped to watch the 4 live stream on city life..

are you able to come out of 1 to desktop and back without the game borking? Last time I did that it stopped my game play so I dare not try it again but its frustrating not being able to come out of game to do google searches for the answer to something..

speaking of 4 I pre ordered City Life because I know I am going to buy it there is too much content I want to use in the pack not to mention an actual city world which is a favorites, so yeah I caved :)

You should be able to click on the sim and there should be invite to "downtown"
Do you mean playing the game in say windowed mode and going in and out? If I quit my game to desktop and then go back in it doesn't cause any issues.

I watched the stream, the EP looks good, I'm slightly disappointed at the trash panda. I wish it were an actual animal!

I will have to check some further interactions tomorrow for them all going out together..No I do not play in windowed mode but often when playing other series I will pause and hit the windows key on my keyboard to take me back to desktop so I can search google for something however the very first time I installed 1 whenever I tried to do this the game would shut down so I have not tried it this time yet...

so do you think you are going to buy city life then? How long have we waited to be able to sell out own art and not just stuff from buy/build mode.. I hope sims will be able to sell anything they make themselves. I love the idea of artists being able to set up their own little stands.. I also like the idea of those tables to sell things on and the fact kids can sell as well.. Also I really do like those food stands as although they are not quite the same as the ones I love in 2 it does bring that vibe back and the fact you can have all these things on your home lot if you want to as well..

@SPARKY1922 I've never tried what you are describing because imwould worry it would just close the game. I'm hopefully going to get to The Sims today and I will double check the interaction. I actually checked the Prima Guide I have and it says you just ask them too. (I'm going to try some of the cc for the sims 3 you recommended too)

I have CL pre ordered! I have done for a while, it's the first time I've ever pre ordered. I'm looking forward to it. I'm glad we will have neighbours in apartments, I love the idea of selling your art and selling your stuff. I love that sims can sell their stuff even on a house lot and I'm really glad to hear that even if Sims aren't living in the city they will get a notification about upcoming festivals as I didn't want only sims living in San Myshuno to be told about it.

Im excited I must admit.

No I have not heard of that before either I will try that in due course when I play without money cheats :)

It does bug me if I keep having to close the game to go to a google search but as I get more used to the series it will become less..

yes I am looking forward to trying CL and like you and most other players I hope that aside from the artist stand those seller tables can be used for all sorts of stuff sims make themselves and not just from build/buy. I also like the idea of being informed from outside the world when festivals will be happening. Another small but invaluable feature is the way you can look inside buildings from neigborhood view without having to physically go inside the building.. The city reminds me quite a lot of the 3 ITF though lol
