Can I send a teen to Uni but still play the base family?

You would need to play the kids in Uni in order for them to have any progression.

They won't graduate. They won't flunk out. They won't even progress even a second.

So don't think that in a few days/weeks that the kid will magically show up from Uni with a degree or having flunked out.
