direct3d returned an error d3derr_invalidcall

Just got a new laptop and getting this error when trying to load into a household. What do I need to download/install to fix this?

I've tried searching around and using Google, but a lot of suggestions were from 2016.

Thanks!

  • I think I fixed it. I had to go into Windows graphic settings and chose to run the game with the higher graphics card.

Are you in Windowed or Fullscreen? Are you on a desktop or laptop?

If you go into Windows Settings find Advanced Graphics you can add the Sims 2 application and change it to use High Graphics. That’s what I did and I have no issues running the game with high graphics and high shadows.

In Windows Settings>System>Display>Graphics>Select or Add the game and under GPU Preference select High Performance.

    any other suggestions please?

  • I have it too, but when Sim takes an item out of his pocket (usually a postman), I don't know, maybe I'll try it because I've been struggling with it for 2 days now
