While yes, the option to select UK English does exist, it is nearly useless as the UK English text strings are:
- most of the time, simply the same as US English;
- sometimes, old versions of US English text that should not be displayed anymore;
- and the only things that actually DO change are 1. replacing links from TheSims2.com to TheSims2.co.uk - a webpage that doesn't work anymore -, and 2. a few exclusive songs on the "Housemix" and "Pop" radio stations that cannot be heard on the US English language game - but there are ways to extract and hear these in-game either way.
A handful of mod creators add custom text strings to actually differentiate between US English and UK English, but that's about it.
