11 months after TS2 LC release, still no crash fixes
After countless hours trying every fix I could find online—official forums, YouTube, the second page of Google, Reddit, and everything in between—I’ve finally given up on getting The Sims 2 Legacy Collection (2025) to run properly on my modern PC. It’s simply not worth the effort to chase a fix that shouldn’t even be part of the "gaming" experience. TLDR: The game crashes every 15–30 minutes—even after the 2025 re-release and promised spec upgrades. If you somehow made it work or reduced the crashes to a tolerable level, good for you—but I paid €30 for a game that doesn’t run on a 2024 gaming rig, and that’s frustrating. Long story longer: I’ve spent hours analyzing crash reports and digging through game files. Here’s what I found: Missing sound directories Large parts of the sound files are completely absent—even in the English version. The game keeps trying to load them until the memory (unchanged from the 2004 release!) gives out and crashes—no warnings, no error messages. I managed to fix this by copying the missing sounds from TS2 Ultimate Collection, which for some reason still included all the necessary files, but not the TS2 LC. But that only revealed the bigger issue: Outdated coding & hardware limitations The game still runs almost exactly on the same memory and DirectX specs as 2004. Multiple layers of limitations were patched on top to make it run at all since the 2025 re-release. Even following all the standard “fixes/workarounds”—turning off shadows, running as admin, using Windows 7 compatibility, etc.—doesn’t stop the crashes and the inconvenience. Modern hardware simply isn’t supported properly. (Although this was the reason people were so hyped for this re-release in the first place) I’m sharing this because I love the franchise and want the community to be aware. While trying to fix the game on my own, I came across countless fellow gamers in the same situation—looking for a game that at least runs for more than 30 minutes without crashing and without relying on endless workarounds. My goal isn’t to blame the developers—they were probably forced to release this without the time or resources it truly needed—but the game still needs to work as promised. If anyone has a real fix please share.13Views0likes0CommentsCreate-A-Sim (CAS) Issue...
Hi!! I just downloaded The Sims 2 Legacy Edition, and when I entered CAS and try to create a sim, it doesn't zoom in normally. I don't have any mods or anything. If y'all have any solutions, I greatly appreciate it! I really wanted to get back into The Sims, so I'm kind of bummed out right now. :(58Views1like2CommentsHow do I install CC Sims in TS2 Legacy?
First I do have Clean Installer, and I long ago added Sims that I had gotten from Mod The Sims years ago, along with ones I made in Body Shop, which show up fine, and I had used Clean Installer when reinstalling them into the New TS2 game. But yesterday I downloaded a bunch of new Sims from Mod The Sims, and used the Clean Installer to try and install them in my game, but when I checked in my game, they weren't there. And I am now wondering if they actually went into the game or not, since it is different from the original or the Ultimate Collection. I even thought that when I used the Clean Installer, and it created a new The Sims 2 folder in EA Games folder, that what I found there was it, because it did work to get the lots, and it has the makeup from the Sims, which does show up, it's just the actual Sims that don't. Which makes me wonder if it doesn't work because we don't have Body Shop. So I am asking if I am just missing something here, like is there some trick to getting the Sims themselves to show up in CAS?25Views0likes1CommentMissing furniture and sim need to rent again
I've had this problem two or three times in 3 months. My sim lives in an apartment, goes too the neighborhood, comes back and most of the furniture is missing (everything without kitchen and batchroom) and they need to rent again. I didn't save the game but it looks like the game somehow saves by itself because it's the same when i load the family. When i change to the other family who also live in the apartment it's the same problem. I have Ultimate Collection, don't use CC or mods. Also they still use bed and easel??????24Views0likes0CommentsThe CD broke!!!
I was installing my good old The Sims 2, I have them on CD's from way back when there was no other way to buy it... but as it was time to put CD3 in... it cracked... just as I was gonna take it out of the box... I tried skipping it and proceeded to installing the extansions, also from CD's, but they all need the base game apparently... I thought some bigger extensions won't need the base necessarily and can replace it? I guess that is not the case with Sims 2? What do I do now? Is there a way to install it without the CD, and without buying the game allover again? Help... I am so sad...41Views0likes0CommentsSims 2 funny moments

Hello, dear Sims team, First of all, thank you for bringing back The Sims 2. For many of us, this game is more than just nostalgia — it’s a piece of our childhood. The new Legacy Collection is a wonderful gift, but as a longtime player, I’d like to share a few suggestions and heartfelt requests. Some technical issues still appear — for example, the installer window sometimes freezes or opens cropped, and the interface doesn’t scale properly on modern 2K/4K displays. It would be amazing if you could release a small patch to fix compatibility and improve stability. Please consider bringing back the IKEA Home Stuff pack. It was one of the most beloved additions because of its realistic, minimalist furniture. Maybe renewed cooperation with IKEA would make that possible again. Many fans would love to see The Sims 2: Life Stories re-released digitally, or as optional DLC for Legacy Collection. Those storylines were unique and very dear to players. Also, there’s an issue with saved families not being preserved — after quitting the game, all progress disappears, even if you exit properly through the main menu. It seems the save system doesn’t always work correctly in Legacy Collection. Possible fixes players have already tried: Running the game as administrator Creating the missing save folder manually in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 2 Legacy Collection\Saves Installing the game outside Program Files (for example, C:\Games\Sims2Legacy) Turning off OneDrive sync for “Documents” Enabling compatibility mode for Windows XP (SP3) For many players, The Sims 2 remains the most heartfelt and atmospheric part of the series. We sincerely hope the game continues to receive support and won’t just be treated as a museum piece. Thank you for listening to your community and keeping this classic alive.65Views1like1CommentHaven't been able to play game since launch. Crashes! NEEDS FIX
The Sims 2 Legacy Collection runs smoothly and fine for me, without cc and mods. HOWEVER after couple of MINUTES into my household of gameplay, it will randomly exit the game without saving. No glitching, no pop-up from windows and no error logs in any of the files to help me find the issue either. I've tried running as administrator, configuring the settings to windows 7. Either starting up from the desktop icon or even in the EA app it will still have this issue. I'm just going to default all the settings trying to make the game work. I REALLY HOPE THIS GETS FIXED! I MISS PLAYING MY OG GAME!126Views1like7Comments
