My Discs
So can I still play my game with my discs because I don't want the issues you all are having with the downloads?
It depends: if trying to use the old dics with a new/newer computer/laptop, then there might be issues and it might not be possible at all. But, if still having an old computer/laptop, which has been previously used for playing The Sims 2 with the discs, then, yes, it might very well still work perfectly!
This is the case for myself now: my gaming laptop - that I bought 2017, and which I have been playing The Sims 4 on since 2017, broke last week, and I had to bring it to a repair Shop. So, long story short, I'm not able to play The Sims 4 now, so I took my old laptop computer (it's a HP laptop, bought 2007 - Windows Vista system), which I used to play The Sims 2 (with discs) on, before I bought that new gaming laptop in 2017 and moved on to play The Sims 4; I didn't continue to play The Sims 2 since that, in between (for nearly 8 years), because I wanted to fully focus on The Sims 4.
But now, after a long time, I took my old laptop and tested if my Sims 2 still works, and yes - it does work perfectly! 😊 So I've been happily playing The Sims 2 again recently. The only issue I have is, that even though I own almost all of The Sims 2 packs with discs, I can't use them all with this old laptop, because it has limited space and memory etc. - In the early times of The Sims 2, I had a different computer which had more space etc. so I was using all of my packs back then. With this old laptop I have only 3 Expansion packs + 7 Stuff packs. But I'm very happy to be able to have those few packs at least and to still be able to play the game.
So, if still having an old computer with the older system, then it still works with the discs. And the big plus is also that when playing with the discs, there is no need to have an internet connection. When it's installed, and when putting the relevant disc in, the game starts when clicking the icon on desktop (and then clicking the "play" which appears after clicking the icon).
Some people might have issues with trying to play with the discs, but for some it still works perfectly 😊 I don't have that digital version of The Sims 2. I have always had The Sims 2 with discs, so I don't know anything about the digital version. (The Sims 4 I mainly have as digital).
Sorry about the very long post and if my explanations were complicated, I sometimes struggle to write in a simple and short way 😄
