As far as I know he has always been named that in the swedish version. It's a far more common name than Dirk in Sweden (albeit still not common at all). In context, the game released in 2004, english slang was not nearly as prevalent then as it is now, and an offline game as well. They probably didn't have to consider how the translations sounded in other languages as much since there wasn't a gallery etc.
