Sims 2 Legacy - Alien Abductions Borked

I did some testing and this still happens with cinematic camera disabled. The sim will reset (or throw an error if testing cheats is enabled) before the abduction interaction can complete.

The same thing happens to me! I went to play with the Curious family and the same thing happens during the scripted event where Vidcund goes to stargaze, even with a clean neighborhood template. The cutscene of the other brother giving birth is also glitched, with the sim clipping through his plumbob, and cuddling the air while the baby is on the ground. 

I am having the same issue.  Alien abduction will not complete because of the wonky cut scene issue.  I have gotten Vidcund start the abduction 3 times now...

I have had all the same issues. I've also had my sim not return on occasion when abducted and had to go back to neighborhood and reload lot to get it to play the return cutscene.

I tried it with and without cutscene turned on. Vidcund jumps out of the action and is not abducted. Tried it 3 times with cut scene, 3 times without, no mods.

I'm experiencing this too! It's so frustrating, I just want to college tuition for it for my sim. I've tried 4 times now, with "summon aliens," and my sim kept walking away before the cutscene, so I put a fence around them, but that's when the last time my sim did make it through half of the cutscene up until they pull the sim up into the air... my sim was standing on top of the telescope and it reset, no alien abduction. I really hope the team fixes this too. 

The Sims team says this happens because the other sims on the lot try to react to the abduction and can't, but I tried this with an old sim that lives alone and it didn't work.

I have that exact problem too! I played the Curious family and Vidcund didn't get abducted no matter what I did, and when Pascal gave birth, the cutscene was glitched, and the game reset the sims every time I tried to interact with the baby. Then when I left the household (without saving, though I saved the lot before I got Vidcund to go to the telescope), the game crashed completely and shut down. I really hope they fix this soon, I want to play them the way they were intended, and it just destroys my will to keep going when I can't follow through with the story.
