    mate54 I tried with a clean folder, it seems it works like that. I think my lot was corrupted, either that or the world itself. The problem appeared after being stuck in a loading screen when on a vacation. I managed to bring them back by deleting the vacation hood, and I think that may have caused the issue. Moving them out of the house and back in makes the issue go away.

namedisplay01 I have done a quick test in my game with both Mortimer and Cassandra Goth (gave her the Eureka benefit through Secondary Aspiration) and both were able to normally earn skills. Does this happen when you test it out in a brand new Sims 2 user folder?

    namedisplay01 That might be the cause; it makes sense that moving out would have worked, since in an unmodded game moving out "resets" the lot, for the lack of a better word. All objects are sold, and a bunch of tokens / hidden objects (some of which might have caused this) are removed as well.
