Sims 2 Legacy crashing while in buy mode

I have the same problem. It doesn't happen with other categories in buy mode, only in the seating category. It only happens with old files where my saves are. When I checked the new files that are created with installation, it all worked properly. But I really want to play on my old saves and don't know how to fix it. I could use some help. 

I have the same problem, only with the category with a chair icon. In all familys and neighborhoods.

All my saves are new. We don't have old content or CC.

I had this problem before, and it was CC that broke the game for me. If you added new CC to your game prior to this, make sure to remove it and try again. I experienced this with the Sims 2 Store Items and preorder items that I downloaded from a site.

I am also having this problem. I have Sims2 UC installed and am playing an old save with custom content. After battling too many issues to even get into here, I finally got to a place where my game was stable. I was able to play all day for two glorious days with no purple soup and no crashing - just me and my Sims. On the third day, I went into buy mode to redecorate a bedroom and I crashed. I booted back up again and the same thing happened. I have discovered that I can essentially play as long as I want, unless I go into buy mode, particularly in the seating/bed section. 

Why would this start happening all of a sudden after 2 full days of playing and redecorating normally?  No new CC was added to the game and no other changes whatsoever were made to the game or my computer. I’m at a loss. :(
