Sims 2 pets issues

I bought the sims 2 legacy today and everything has been completely fine. I can get the app to open and don't have any problems with it crashing. Though I made two different households of one adult and one dog, though when I placed them in a home the dog disappeared for both. I even tried adopting a dog and it was all fine but when I got in the taxi and went home the dog was gone again, but this time I was given an error message that said, "Object error controller- lot transitions #122 error: too many iterations."  I don't understand how to fix this and can't find anyone else talking about this problem. If anyone has an answer, please help. I'm in desperate need to get this to work lol.
