Sims 2 pets issues

I had the same issue!
created a family with an adult dog, moved them to a house and then the dog was gone. My solution was going back into CAS and creating a household with just a dog in it and moving it in the same lot as the original family. Now they have the dog.

For EAs info:
There is a crash happening for me and other people that when the dog comes home from work and will get a promotion, the game crashes everytime. I can't play my save now cuz I had saved 20 seconds before my dog came home from work and would get his promotion. It crashes again and again. I have tried to verify the files and restart the game several times.

I have the same issue. I made a household with a dog but when I start the family the dog was gone. I bought one from a store came home but without a dog. 

Yes oh my gosh thank you so much!! I'll try again today to see if that works for me! (I've been busy so I haven't been able to troubleshoot any other fixes or look for others with the same problem so this means a lot!) Hopefully EA hears about this and fixes it, or at least tells us an official way to tweak our computers to help haha! 

Yes oh my gosh it was so frustrating!! Some people are saying just make a dog in CAS and then move it into the house but if we can't adopt a dog/pet that would still suck!! I really hope it's fixed ASAP bc adoption was my favorite part lol!!

That's also not working (for me at least). I also cannot train my dogs so they are very annoying (eating thrash and rolling in thrash). 

Yeah I tried to add the pet to the family separately but after making just my adult sim to place first I got the "game crashed system will not terminate" error for the first time like everyone else has been getting so I don't understand what's wrong now lol. Hopefully EA gets to it haha!
