sims 2 ultimate collection crashes on startup

as the title says, with the recent release of sims 2 legacy collection ive felt the need to play ultimate collection. upon booting up the game, or attempting to, the game "crops" into the 800x600 aspect ratio as old games do, and then i see the title screen only for an error screen to pop up "mansion and garden stuff" which was blank and closing that box closes the whole game. i have repaired the game, reinstalled the game, deleted the groups.cache or accessories.cache files that other questions suggested. i HAVE played it before, last time was about 4-6 months ago, the game crashed while i was "coming home" from shopping and i have not touched it since as i had to basically get a whole new pc to play anything. so i do have a new graphics card/cpu etc, but i did not have the graphicsrule mod or whatever its called before despite being a semi-new system so i do not know why that would change now.

i did go from windows 10 to 11 in the last 3 months, i do not know if that affects it. and running it in compatability mode windows 7 also does nothing
