Sims 2 won't save.

Exactly as the title says. I played for a couple of hours, got some decent progress going- made sure to save before quitting. I launched the game this evening and it's like the save didn't happen. The sim is gone, there's no evidence of a save. Pretty disappointed in this release. Is this happening to anyone else?
