The Sims 2 Legacy food disappears as soon as it's prepared

Just started playing the new re-release of TS2... As soon as my sim finishes cooking/preparing a meal, it disappears from their hands. They don't put it anywhere, it just vanishes. Tried with a bunch...

I'm having the same issue! I was playing with Brandi Broke last night and her household seemed fine, but today I'm playing with Don Lothario and he can't eat anything.
