The Thought Bubbles

OK, thank you. So, just temporary unhappiness then. Good, 'cause I then misinterpreted Dennis's thoughts about his wife's baby a while back because he had a ton of red "x"s over the baby's face when he was writing in his diary one day, and I thought it meant he hated her/resented her because she isn't his. It's just that sometimes one Sim will walk past another (I've noticed it the most with the maid while she's working) and a bubble will pop up and sometimes has a red "x" over the person's face. I've never seen the fire-filled bubble though.

I've never had anyone steal the newspapers either, just pick it up, read it, and then put it back down again. Once, someone did kick over the Razaar's garbage can, though. I was surprised because I didn't think he even knew the family. That was a weird one.

I think that is the attraction (or lack of it :) ) when you see a "x" as a Sim walks past another. You may also see hearts too when they are attracted?


Townies sometimes kick the trash can if they have walked past the lot and the family have not interacted with them. I am unsure of the number of times the Townie walks past before this happens. Correct me if I am wrong but I think playable neighbours don't kick the trash can without good cause.

It can be fun trying to figure out conversations, specially when a child gets the woohoo thought bubble. *laughs*

Heh, all my teen Sims seem to wind up getting frustrated enough to kick the garbage can at least once, if not multiple times. My first teen, Petey from Pleasantview, not only repeatedly kicked the garbage can over, but would go into the backyard and trample the flower beds when he got too angry and frustrated.

I have always thought it as meaning that sim didn't like what the other said or did. But it depends on the situation. I have had sims hubby and wife show bubbles of each other w/X's but they want to woohoo with each other. I think they just did something unappealing. It's your game, you take it the way you want it.

I was asked once how you understand what they say if they don't say it in my language, but you do because of the story in your head...that's what is so great about this game. It's all up to you how you want to play. Many simmers play with the dark side, and many play with the family side and some are combined, but it is your story that you want to "tell". To me TS2 was the best when it came to creative play. I even started writing short stories about my play. TS3 had the stories but was so much fun in creating situations and affect, TS4 is fun but is still being written and totally different when it comes to playing it.

Is it a thought bubble or a speech bubble? If it is a speech bubble, the podium speech bubble is a Sim talking about politics. If you go into your Interests panel, scroll the pointer over each subject and hold it there for a second, each subject will show pics of what it goes with. Like the money subject will show pics of paper money, or sports will show a soccer ball, etc.

The most common thought bubble with a red "x" over it tends to be when a Sim is using the bathroom, the other Sims in the household are inconvenienced because they can't use the facilities.
Some ghost Sims have this thought bubble for children on the lot if their widow/widower has remarried and has another child with the new spouse. I think the ghost Sim resents that it is not their child and it should have been. :(
Real anger and fury is displayed with the Sim in a "fire" filled thought bubble - if you play Pleasantview, there are plenty of examples due to the cheating that goes on. A Sim will take revenge and steal newspapers, kick the dustbin and maybe even fight.

If the long term relationship reaches -50, they will become enemies.
The enemy status remains even if they talk on phone and it goes down, but if there are transactions in person (even talking at a dining table) the Sims can cease being enemies. Popular Sims fear becoming enemies with a friend.

It is all about your own interpretation about what is going on - sometimes when you are playing, you can miss interactions which affects relationships because you are micro-managing another Sim at the time.

I think my interpretation is more likely - just like in real life, when a family member is carrying out their ablutions, someone else wants to as well. :)
