Chapter 3.1 “If the Sun refused to Shine”
A copy of mother’s book came with the post today, Robert was reading it when I came home from school, she never let anyone read her novels before release. Mother named it after my favorite song “If the sun refused to shine”.
The novel was a massive 669 pages historical romantic drama:
A poor young Muslim woman living in Spain after Christians had regained possession of her hometown. She fall’s in love with a Spanish nobleman, caught between two civilizations we follow her love story and finally her death – Killed during the Muslin rebellion in 1501 by her own people
“Will take some time for him to chew through that one” mother joked, “let’s go to town honey”, we got something we should do”, blinking to me. We first went to the spa, she approached her boss saying, “Sorry but I guess you won’t see me again, unless I should need a mud bath someday, which I doubt”, on the way out she looked at me saying. “Now let the two of us go dine at Kim Gould’s”
We had a fantastic night out, first time I had ever been to a restaurant this exclusive.
When we came back Robert was playing with Muddi, laying the floor of the living room, “he is getting old” Robert stated, “we were in the garden to fetch sticks, but after a short while he doesn't bother. “He is more than 10 years old” can’t expect him to act like a puppy” Mother replied. I was thinking about all the god time we had, and that it could not last forever. I called him up to my bed that night.
Several months later
I did not know anything about this at the time, but things were not good at Miss Loveless home. David was flirty for sure, but it was different with Miss Loveless. She was completely unable to commit and her needs was impossible to fulfill, regardless of her responsibilities towards the children.
Rumors of her attempts to break up families was well known, also after David had moved in: They started to argue and before long David chose to sleep at the couch.
At our place quite the contrary, Robert and Mummy was very happy, living a silent but pleasurable life together, engulfed in their love and their art. Robert also more and more interested in his garden. “sadly, the frost will kill ‘em all, but the more the reason to get harvest as soon as I can” he said, when mother pushed a little to get lunch or laundry done.
Me personally was having a great time with my school friends although I did not particularly like school itself. Did not care much for homework and did not get the grades mother wanted me to have. Flirting a little with an older boy was a lot better than reading about a silly war many years ago or why this Pythagoras fella was so famous.
