Backstory: It was a dark and stormy night. The power had gone out and only distant beam of the lighthouse reflected in the windows – until it suddenly went dark, and a terrible crash from the shore jolted Jed and Norma awake. They ventured out into the night to see what had caused the noise and they found a shipwreck, and crawling out of it were four children who remembered nothing except their own names. The couple agreed to take the children in, and the children, from their part, had objection.
Creator's note: The Lewis household is a tribute to the Chronicles of Narnia. The couple's surname (Lewis) comes from the author himself, and the children's surname comes from illustrator Pauline Baynes.
The house also has numerous references to the books (including the children's first names), such as a stump in the yard and only one wardrobe with doors (the other dressers has drawers).
