Okay, I have a question, in the mini story, are we supposed to write a twist about who the character is? Just make her story a bit darker and creepier?
And, am I allowed to use the word Siren instead of mermaid to make it a bit more creepy?
The idea of the competition is to take the already known story and add twists into it to make it darker, creepier, gorier, scarier, etc. So yes, you can definitely do all of what you said.

@Bob: Will do dear :) you have until the 8th to submit a model and it remain yours.
@Angel: You can totally use the one you mentioned before. I provided a link to read up on it. It's just that those aren't ones I know anything about so it'll require research on my part for me to understand :)
@Spackichan: Same thing I said to Angel...annnd looking at the time you posted and the time Vana posted on Unbound, she beat you out for Mulan (as of now).
Both of you let me know if you want to use new ones or keep your original ideas.
Okay, I'm still just confused. I really have an obsession with Frozen, is it okay if I take Elsa and twist her up a bit? xD
The idea of the competition is to take the already known story and add twists into it to make it darker, creepier, gorier, scarier, etc. So yes, you can focus your character on Elsa from Frozen and yes you can make her darker than she's portrayed in the movie. You will then need to change her storyline to something darker as the competition progresses.
To give you a better example, say I wanted to use the story of Princess & The Pauper.
The original "happy" storyline:
The original storyline for that is that there are two girls who look identical - the princess and a poor pauper. The pauper dreams of being a princess, catered to and loved by everyone so she doesn't have to slave away working in a shop. The princess dreams of being anonymous, letting herself be free to act silly and not have to follow a ton of royal rules. They meet, realize they're practically twins, and decide to switch places. They each learn to love the lives they have and fall in love with people outside their social circle (the pauper falls for a prince and the princess falls for a common boy). It's a "happily ever after" kind of ending.
The way you could switch it to make it darker:
Instead of the princess and pauper willingly switching roles, maybe the pauper is a creepy, selfish, and obsessed fan of the princess. She kidnaps the princess and steals her life. Then the princess takes back her life by using magic or killing her, or something along those lines.
Do you see how the story lines are similar, but the second one is darker? I hope that helps.

@Rikki: Theyr'e still a bit on the dark side, but I will manage.
