Bio: Cornwall, 1859. Cesare Donatelli snuggled against Bianca for a moment, eased himself out of bed, and made his way to his infant son’s room. The boy lay on his stomach, a half-smile playing on his lips. For a few seconds Cesare once again, as had become his habit, wondered why the gods had showered him with so many blessings. Had he been prescient he also might well have wondered why it was to be the last time he would ever do so.
