Perfect Genetics Challenge

My new video series - Perfect Genetics Challenge - is now available for viewing on YouTube.

https://youtu.be/iQUhw5SbutM

This video is a little over 16 minutes. It is an introduction to my founder, Olivia. We first meet her in Create a Household. We see her first home and job. She meets her man and they start getting to know each other.

This challenge ought to be colourful. Not only does Olivia have blue, purple, pink and yellow hair but she has a very pale blue skin and pinkish purple eyes. The challenge requires her to produce an heir, male or female, who has the exact same hair and eye colour.

Once the heir is confirmed, the mother will concentrate on living her life until the heir is old enough to take on the challenge.

There is no upper limit to the number of babies she might have to produce before the heir arrives. Consequently I've set the age spans to be reasonably long but will use cake to age the family up as required.

I plan to stop the mother from having more babies once it is confirmed the heir has been born.

The heir will age up from toddler to child when they have done all of their toddler skills.

And from Child to Teen after completing all of the child skills and getting onto the honour roll at school.

The teen will age up to young adult after they have been to a prom and have learned fishing and cooking skills and read all of the fishing and recipe books. This means they'll need to get to level 7 in fishing and level 10 in cooking before I will let them age up to Young Adult. They may learn other skills along the way and need to be at least A Grade students.

If they haven't learned the required skills and done the required reading within 105 days they'll age up automatically.

When the heir is about the age up to Young Adult, hopefully the day before the teen is ready to age up to young adult, I'll age the parents up to Adult.

The Adult life stage is also quite long just in case the mother automatically ages up to adult before she has produced the heir.

The Elder life stage is also long. Babies will need grandparents around for a while.

I may reduce the length of the Elder life stage at some point if the elders are accumulating.

Moonlit Falls is full of supernaturals and I won't worry about when that population ages up.

I'll be using EA Story Progression so if the town population ages up very slowly maybe there will still be sims around town by the time my founder's descendants start moving into the general townie population.

All babies born to the founder and her heirs will have randomised traits with the one exception that each heir must have the dislikes children trait.

There are no restrictions on how the main household earns their income. They can go out collecting, or gardening or whatever they choose. I will be getting them the no bills ever lifetime reward asap because I have a bad habit of forgetting about the bills and have difficulty working out what the repo man has taken.

Due to the lack of restrictions on how they earn/come by their money the game will have many and varied activities in it throughout this challenge. One of the first wishes my founder got is to travel to Egypt to buy a recipe book. I do plan to grant that wish soon. Perhaps she can go there on her honeymoon.

She has already met her man. I made him specially for her. She's blue with purple and blue hair, he's green with green hair and eyes. But their skin colouring is subtle.

I think that about covers it. I hope you decide to watch. I'm keeping the length of these episodes to around 10 to 15 minutes each.

Please consider subscribing if you are going to watch the videos as that way you'll know whenever a new episode is posted.

  • Today I loaded another video to YouTube. This is Episode 1 of Generation 3 of the Perfect Genetics Challenge.

The Perfect Genetics Challenge Generation 3 Episode 1

This starts out with the household doing their usual things. Sculpting, writing, making snowmen, reading, painting.

Donna and Clark got engaged. They both wished for a party so we had a bachelorette party and a bachelor party.  Both were in the big birthday room downstairs when my attempts to hire an outside venue failed. You'll see about that in the video.

Then Don headed out to Mountain Lake and collected his descendants and escorted them back to the main household in Appaloosa Plains. Many of them had never visited Appaloosa Plains before as it the house used to be in Moonlit Falls.
I left their imaginary friends made real behind as I thought I'd have enough sims to deal with without them.

Then Don headed for Vice City and picked up his alien children, Bill's alien son and Cindy and Bill's twins Denise and Daryl.

So in the end there are lot more sims than usual in the household.

Here is a pic of the founder, Olivia, and her heirs Cindy and Donna

  • karritz  Perfect Genetics Challenge Gen 2, Ep 30. I enjoyed watching your sims' time in China, their activities, adventures, and romance. Fun to see the Dragon Cave, the koi fish, and the karate practicing and sparring. ... The little girl with the long multicolored hair is lovely. And the ice unicorn sculpture is pretty.

Gen 2, Ep 31. I really love your horses. Beautiful coats. ... More great sculptures. ...The little dog swimming in the pool is cute. Glad he was ok. And I like the different paintings. Very talented kids. ... Uh oh! The household was upset about the other sims' inappropriate socializing. ... Festival time was fun, all the various things to do.

Perfect Genetics Challenge Gen 3, Ep 1. I'm glad that the family is continuing with just the focus switching over to the next generation. Cool shots of the fish in their separate bowls. Nice romance scenes, especially the proposal. I enjoyed seeing the sweet shop and the beautiful snow scenes. The fireman party dancers were fun! Seeing all the family at the end of the party was great. Awesome closing snowy church scene!

  • lanlynk Thank you for your comments. I'm glad you enjoyed the videos.  It might take me a while to get the wedding up as everything takes so long to do with so many sims in the one household, even if their inventories are empty.
After I finished recording the video for the wedding I realised I'd forgotten one extra sim. I did think I ought to pretend she wasn't part of the family, but she is so I sent Olivia to Mountain Lake to get her plant sim daughter, Petal.  Now I need to record the entire thing again with Petal in it.

  • The Perfect Genetics Challenge, Generation 3, Episode 2 - the wedding is now available for you to watch on YouTube.

The Perfect Genetics Challenge Generation 3 Episode 2 - The Wedding

The bride and groom - Donna and Clark.  They will have a honeymoon in the next episode. I'm thinking of sending them to Sunlit Tides where they will meet up with some of the sims from The Isla Paradiso Bunch. Judy and her family are living there. Carl spent some time with them a few episodes ago when he needed a witch to cure him from being toadified.

The end of the video has a series of these 'photos' of the various family members who attended the wedding.

Olivia, the founder with her daughter and heir, Cindy and Donna. Donna is Cindy's heir and the bride in this wedding.

A few sims at the party after the wedding ceremony.

Cindy with her wedding cake - that's her father, Bill on the left. The man with the longish white hair. It's actually multicoloured hair.

Just a few sims having fun.

I think Cindy may have been a little bored here. The aliens are mostly Don's alien children - Max, Martin, Mary and Sunny. One of them is Bill's alien son, Carl.

The venue is my 'Indoor Outdoor Wedding Centre' which is in my studio on the Exchange.  I modified it a bit for this wedding as I thought the sims my need more room, but in the end the modifications didn't seem to help. The only one I would keep is I moved one upstairs floor one space wider to allow the chairs to fit better up there.

The link to my venue on the Exchange is:  Indoor Outdoor Wedding Centre

  • karritz  I watched Perfect Genetics Gen 3 Ep2: Quite a shindig! I recognized several of the sims you pointed out from your other videos. ... Lovely wedding venue. So colorful inside. Those windows and all the flowers. ... You did a great job of organizing the ceremony and reception, despite uninvited guests! Weddings are so tricky. Something always goes wrong---just like in real life! I liked the photo sessions at the end. ... Wow, poor Bill, getting abducted and impregnated just when he aged to YA! ... Thanks for sharing your video. 😊

  • I had a tiny problem that was devastating to me at the time. It happened when little Damien aged up to teen.  This disaster resulted in me finally working out how I could fix it and thought I'd turn it into a short tutorial just in case others face the same problem. I've seen it once before years ago, and I don't think I managed to fix it that time.

How I fixed unsightly facial hair on my newly aged up teen sim - Damien

  • I've been making a video for the past few weeks. And I've had a few weeks of a virus that slowed me down a lot. And it's hot here.

I'm about to shut the PC down and go to a cooler place for a while.

The video I'm making is going to be about 2 hours long, so I'll probably break it up into parts of no more than 30 minutes each. It is something I want to do, not sure if anyone will want to watch it though.

I've added a lot of new sims from my library to my game because V City was empty except for the few sims I've moved into it from the Main Household. They were lonely and I wanted more vibrant activity in the world when I visited. So I decided to m ake a video to introduce you to the new sims.

I've been managing to add one sim each day to the video, and I have 9 sims left to do so it looks like I'll be loading the first part of the video in a couple of weeks. I will load all parts of it over a short period of a day or two and then focus on starting baby making for generation 3.

    Happy Simming.
