I'm really confused as this is working for so many but a couple of you can't get it to work. Are you also getting the "Cannot start process while the game is running" error message too?
As I don't have an affected Mac I'm reliant on others to try these changes.
Cider is the software EA used to make the game Mac 'compatible'. The game thinks it's running in Windows. There is a link in the stickied help thread that explains it in more detail.
