Are Freckles and Beauty Marks Genetic?

Title says it all, does anyone know/have experience with freckles and beauty marks being passed down genetically? Thanks :)

StoryProgression is the mod that governs genetics. Could be mistaken, but I believe that inheritance of such attributes comes from SP's Advanced Genetics function. It's on by default, but requires the SP Extra and SP Population add-on modules.

Edit: Whoops, now I'm not sure if the Advanced bit is required. But anyway, the option that governs those is here:
    NRaas > SP > General Options > Options:Pregnancy > Chance of Part Inheritance > (default is 25).
"Parts include birth marks and freckles."

When in the pregnancy option, there seems to be no chance of part inheritance. Also what does Advanced Genetics mean? I pretty much got this mod to have better genetics, so each kid has a good mix of both parents, is this what that option means?

The option is there on the menu SP > General Options > Options:Pregnancy. You likely have to activate SP's progression in order to see those options.

Advanced Genetics replaces EA's genetics system with that of NRaas, which is more favorable to various forms of blending the genetics of two parents.

We may have a case of misdirected expectations here, though. StoryProgression is a huge mod. It's purview is to push all inactives in town in order to "progress" in their careers, skills, relationships, finances, etc. in an orderly and not so random fashion and it manages immigration of new sims. Genetics is only a part of what it controls. This may well be more of a mod than you really wanted and if you switch off SP's progression (it's off by default, actually), then its genetics system isn't going to take hold.

Unfortunately, I don't know of a standalone TS3 genetics replacement system. The only other alternative I am aware of is wrapped inside of a Core Mod from our friendly competitor, one that we cannot discuss in great detail on this forum. While certainly simpler to use than NRaas SP, the alternative isn't anywhere near as customizable and can add things to players' games that they just do not want.
  • I dont understand why dont freckles get passed down through genetics in sims? It hasn't worked any of the sims games, even if both parents have gene. I wish EA could fix it in a patch for us! :'(

They won't be fixing it in a patch for Sims 3.

I have a few Custom Content Skins and some of them have freckles.

So far I haven't had any of my Sims with freckled skins have babies, but others have and their babies have inherited their CC skin so I assume, if I ever get one of my Sims with a freckled skin to have a baby maybe the baby will inherit some freckles that way.

As for beauty marks, one of my Sims did have a baby with the exact same beauty mark in the same place so maybe that happens. Or it may have just been a coincidence.

I tweaked that but I wish my kid had inherited his dad's freckles. He's like a non-magical Harry Potter: Dad's hair and Mom's eyes.
