I wish I had all the befores for the picture, but what I do have, pretty well led up to the final piccie. This was my very first edit like this:
Before:
This was actually the Bridgeport city and sand I put in a huge room that I merged together and then added the water effect.

But I wasn't completely happy with it and wanted to add more depth and sea life:
