I play a neighborhood filled with sims that know each other. As a result I make some deplorable sims that are there to create chaos and make things worse for many other sims for the lulz. I also tend to make some sims with hilariously horrible lives. I do make many with the more vanilla family lives but this way if I want to change up how I'm playing I just save the one family and play as a different household for a while (I also turn off the aging for everyone around and mainly only age the sims when I am playing them or if I make a birthday cake for them).
