And just why in the world would you WANT a raccoon? You wouldn't keep one as a pet in real life, so why on the sims? Can you say RABIES?
actually yes you would in RL, we had 2 racoons when i was a child. My dad brought home from the forest when they accidently killed the mom, in a tree cutting. They are halarious and fun to have around. Sorta wish they would have them in the sims as a say rare pet to capture.
o and as for the laws of the types of pets you all are talking about, where i live if you get a permit now, you can own those pets. Of course the lions/tigers, etc, have no fangs, and no claws. and the cost to feed them is herendous, for instance 2000 a month in raw meat. give or take a few thousand.
as for other states i don't know their laws.
Back when i was a youngun, about 22 they were giving away panthers at the zoo, only requirement to adopt them was the ability to feed them, since they took alot of raw meat to do so. LadyElfie wrote:
I wouldn't tell anybody to adopt any of those as pets irl. I happen to work in a petshop. In fact I ENCOURAGE ADOPTION, and most of my pets in real life ARE rescues. It's just, this is a game. I will never have a raccoon or a unicorn, or a tiger as a pet in real life, but what's so wrong about having that desire fulfilled in a game? I play the game to live the fantasy, not to be confined by the rules and restrictions of real life.
You aren't being confined by anything. But, this is a simulation of real life. And whether or not you agree with it, there still are boundaries. In TS3, a raccoon is considered a wildlife creature, just as it is in real life. Accept it or not, but you can't and will never be able to have a raccoon as a domestic pet.
Just because this game does have a fantasy/mythical side to it, doesn't mean that it has to oppose everything that happens or that is accepted in the real world. I actually rather it be that way.
You're probably just mad because the dang raccoon keeps knocking over your trash cans. :lol:LadyElfie wrote:

You're PROBABLY just mad because the dang raccoon keeps knocking over your trash cans.
Who said I was mad?
Before you respond to my posts, feel free to read them correctly and thoroughly.

Raccoon never knocked over my trash can, just walked by my sim house. As for wild animals. As a kid, I always dreamed of owning a wild animal as a pet. As most state laws require permits, I do not own one. I would like to someday own something called a Fennec Fox. You can find you tube videos of them playing with people's cats. Quite cute.
As I said, by clicking and saving the skin into my bins folder in CAS using testingcheatsenabled true, there is a possibility someone could come out with a mod that would allow you to have a raccoon as a pet. We shall see. I just think it would be interesting for one to be friends with my cat.- I have quite a few people that have raccoons as pets. I have no trouble with people owning wild animals as long as they're cared for properly, and many times this means having adequate enclosures built for them.
- It's really just a matter of difference of opinions. I don't mind that people do own them. I just don't agree with it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks the same as I do, or I hope not haha.

In the next few weeks, there'll probably be a mod for that. - My dad owned a raccoon as a kid, it fell down his neighbor's chimney as an infant, and they bottle fed it & kept it until it ran away for good, but even as an adult, they left it in an enclosure outside to let it out during "mating season" but he would always come back, and run along the headrests of my dad's pickup truck when he drove down the road. Ever since he told me that, and showed me pictures, I've always wanted a pet raccoon, or squirrel (my aunt raised an abandoned litter of them when I was little). At least I can get the squirrel in the game, but I would love to have a raccoon be my pet in the game.
People have all kinds of wild pets, my friend's fiance wants a skunk (he won't ever get one because my friend would freak out, but still, that's his dream in life). I think I'm going to download the cat from the exchange that looks like a raccoon.
& Not ALL raccoons have rabies, so that's kind-of a dumb comment to make. All animals are prone to rabies/other diseases, that doesn't mean they're all infected with it, or that they ever will be.
I absolutely agree with liltab1121, that it's a matter of opinion, it's kind of like being a cat person vs a dog person. Some people like exotic animals, I don't consider raccoons to be exotic and I'm pretty sure there aren't laws against owning them since they're considered pests though there might be.

I am sure this one meows. The one in game actually makes the noise of a raccoon. Should be interesting if a mod does come out. :)- lilcass15 years agoNew Spectator
